Before the Close of Day
In Paradisium
In 2020 I began scoring and sound designing a film project for a collaborator and friend: Peter Lucas. The idea was to explore the concept of Dante’s “Divine Comedy” both through image and sound. From the description on “The Dante Project” website:
One of the great works of literature, Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy was begun in the year 1308 and completed in 1320, a year before his death…Dante called his three-part poem the Commedia because the work begins in misery and ends in happiness…
The Dante Project visualizes each of the books as three experimental films. The Inferno is being shot in the evening hours and lonely corners of Brooklyn. Purgatorio is set during winter storms on the Staten Island Ferry. And Paradiso is being realized with footage from gardens in Rio de Janeiro.
“Among the Lost” (Inferno) and “In Paradisium” (Paradiso) are currently in production. “Before the Close of Day” has been screened in New York and has had appearances in some film festivals (Florence Film Awards, Ciudad de Mejico International Film Festival, Rome Prisma Film Awards and more).
En 2020 empecé a diseñar y componer el mundo sonoro para un proyecto de cine de mi amigo y colaborador: Peter Lucas. La idea era explorar y conceptualizar “La Divina Comedia” de Dante, de manera audiovisual. Les dejo abajo una descripción del sitio web de “Proyecto Dante”:
Una de las grandes obras de literatura, La Divina Comedia de Dante Alighieri empezó en el año 1308 y terminó en 1320, un año antes de la muerte de su autor…Dante bautizó como “Commedia” a su extenso poema de tres partes porque empieza en la miseria y termina en la felicidad…
El Proyecto Dante visualiza cada uno de los libros como películas experimentales. El Inferno se la filma durante la noche en los pasajes solitarios de Brooklyn. Purgatorio se montó en el “Staten Island Ferry” durante tormentas invernales. Y Paradiso está siendo realizada con imágenes de los jardines de Rio de Janiero.
“Among the Lost” (Inferno) y “In Paradisium” de momento están en producción. “Before the Close of Day” fue puesta en pantalla en Nueva York y también presentada en varios festivales de cine (Florence Film Awards, Ciudad de Mejico International Film Festival, Rome Prisma Film Awards y más).
